| I first went to India in the late 1960's as part of a student exchange program through the University of the Pacific. I was amazed to discover this huge portion of humanity that we are so unaware of here in the west. It was in India that I fell in love with the people, arts, and culture of Asia, and it was in Bangalore that I first learned how to batik. Trying to represent the folds in cloth, saris, and veils has continued to influence my work. | India |
